River of Life 2017 is FULL!

If you'd like to be put on a waiting list, please contact Diane Deariso at dianedeariso@gmail.com

Because of the work we do, this mission is best suited for older youth. Students must have COMPLETED the 6th grade in order to participate in River of Life at Milledgeville First United Methodist Church.

Mission Focus

ROL focuses on bringing young people to Christ through servanthood. This ministry hopes to teach the future generation what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ.Countless families have been blessed by God through ramps, porches, clean yards, fresh paint, friendly smiles, a warm hug or a prayer of peace and healing. Countless youth and adults alike have met Jesus, grown closer to Him and given their lives to His service. Many pay good money to spend a week of their summer vacation working in the heat because Christ placed on their hearts to do something for those in need. While these youth come to hopefully bless someone else, they usually end up being the ones blessed.

The Basic Truth

In Galatians 5:6, the apostle Paul writes, the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself in love. The River of Life Youth Mission ministry is built upon this basic truth. ROL is a series of events held each summer aimed at enabling youth and adults to express the love of Jesus Christ by ministering to the people of a community through home repairs.

FUMC has hosted a River of Live event for 18 years as an extention of their ministry to the people of Milledgeville/baldwin Country and the surrounding areas. A committee of dedicated adults work all year to prepare for the summer event. Each ROL is scheduled to take place from Wednesday evening through a closing worship service Sunday morning. The schedule allows for a significant amount of work to take place over the four day period. It also includes a time of praise and worship each evening. The FUMC event usually hosts about 225 youth and adults from several churches and completes about 30 projects. This ministry helps many people in need.

Enrollment is open to youth (6-12 grade) and adults willing to volunteer.
